Puppia 2016 Summer Dog Harness Collection Now Available at

Looking to outfit your furry friend with trendy, yet practical accessories? Dedicated pet owners should look no further than Puppia. The brand serves as a world-leader in doggie fashion, thanks to years of industry experience and the resources available to consistently produce one-of-a-kind products that will delight both dogs and their owners.

Striving to represent the best of the best in canine couture, Puppia specializes in premier designer pet clothing and accessories for dogs of all sizes. Their items are not only unique, but among some of the most beneficial accessories one could ever outfit their dog with.

Puppia's brand-new 2016 collection includes a wide variety of harnesses, leashes, and vests, all of which are available at Organic Pet Each item is adorned with a different eye-catching pattern, providing customers with the ability to pick the design that is best suited to their personal taste. Styles include Hearts, Delta (camouflage), Argyle, Peonies, Princesse, Ziggy, Tot, and Beach Party. And because it's important that the accessory complements your pooch's style but also fits properly, both the harnesses and vests also come in three different sizes—small, medium, and large. Choose patterns of the same color for a uniform look, or mix and match similar styles with incredible ease!

Most dog experts and knowledgeable owners will agree that when it comes to long or short walks around the neighborhood, a harness or vest is much safer than a standard leash and collar. This is because the latter, when pulled, puts an undue amount of stress on the dog's neck and throat. A harness offers more control and evenly distributes the weight for a more comfortable walking experience.

Each Puppia harness and vest is not only comfortable, but the 100% polyester material is also lightweight and breathable, making it perfect for any climate or particularly hot day. It comes with a single solid metal ring for attaching a leash, and the built-in buckle mechanism provides a secure, worry-free fit. An audible click lets owners know when it is firmly locked in place in order to ensure your pet is secure on even the busiest of sidewalks, hiking trails, or boardwalks. Adjusting the harness's size is easy as well, even while your dog is already wearing it. Simply loosen or tighten the buckles and pull on the straps to seamlessly customize your fit in order to achieve the highest level of comfort and safety. Plus, it's machine washable, making it easier than ever to keep clean.

No matter your style, Puppia has the items you need to keep your pooch healthy, happy, and safe.

Spotlight on Our Local SPCA!

We donate a portion of our profits to our local SPCA and like to feature dogs in need on our facebook page.   So we wanted to take a moment to introduce this worthy cause and share stories about some furry friends that are available for adoption.

Dynamite Denver (pictured to the left) arrived at the SPCA scared and unsure and he is blossoming into a fun, confident, loving dog who needs a home that he can call his own. Denver is super smart so he needs a home that can keep up. He would do best with a person who is active and understands the needs of an intelligent, herding type breed of dog. Denver is friendly but stubborn and he occasionally has a mind of his own but can be easily cajoled into doing things your way. He would excel in obedience, rally and agility. Couch potatoes need not apply, this medium sized marvel needs lots of mental and physical stimulation. If you are prepared to meet Denver's needs he would love to make you his! Estimated to be a year old, this guy's a mere pup. Long term love only please.

The York County SPCA was founded in 1926 and has been providing loving care to dogs, cats, horses and small animals since its inception.  The facility is now located on 10 acres ans includes an onsite surgical facility to meet the needs of its many inhabitants.

If you are interested in this pet or any others, please stop by their shelter or e-mail them for more information. To fill out an adoption application, you can visit their website at and click on adopt a pet which will take you to a link for the application.

Pets adopted from their shelter are spayed or neutered and receive necessary vaccinations as part of the adoption fee.

I purchased a Puppia harness for my dogs to help aid our long walks. Neither are necessarily pullers but they certainly like to lead the way. Of course, I wanted to try the harness for more than just control.  I wanted something that they would find comfortable to wear and, more importantly, offer me the peace of mind when walking along streets and sidewalks that suddenly become very busy. When using just a standard leash and collar, I always worry about the potential for the collar to slip right off the neck. I didn’t want to think about any scenario like that occurring. So I wanted to try out this harness and I'm very happy to report that I won't be looking back.

In addition to its comfortable, cozy fit, the harness is unbelievably soft—so I know it's not causing my dog any discomfort. I loved the lightweight and breathable fabric, as it not only makes the material easy to carry around, but surely won't add any weight to the dog's back over the course of a long walk. I have to believe that, over time, my dog won't even know it's there! Just because it's all so slim and streamlined.

At first glance, I probably would have preferred the buckle mechanism would be made of metal, rather than plastic, as the former is probably way more durable. But over quite a few walks already, it hasn't posed any sort of problem at all, which I believe is probably just due to how secure it is in the first place. You'll definitely know when it's locked in. The "click" sound is hard to miss. Adjusting from one dog to the next is a breeze as well (I have a dachshund/chihuahua mix along with just a dachshund, and they're physiques are quite different. So ensuring that I'd be able to create the best possible fit for both was a huge deal). All I had to do was simply loosen the strap with minimal effort, and I was able to do this both with and without the harness attached to the dog. It was remarkably easy.

I have the medium-sized harness, and I was able to switch pretty seamlessly between my two dogs. Both of which weigh between 20-30 lbs., and again, it couldn't serve as a better fit.

The harness comes with a single solid metal ring for attaching a leash, and the ring sits squarely in the middle of the dog's back. This helps ensure that when I'm forced to pull back on the leash, it's going to spread the stress evenly throughout my dog's body, rather than placing it all their neck and throats if merely a standard leash and collar are used.

There are a number of color options available. I chose green because often times my walks will come at night, so I was hoping the green would certainly be of the more fluorescent or neon variety. It's not exactly neon green, but it's truly a wonderful color that is able to be spotted in the dark, something I'd be very nervous to walk without.

This harness gives me everything I would ever need out of such an accessory, and I know my dogs have to love how comfortable it really is. It's given me a great sense of reassurance and further control on our walks, and I'll certainly encourage all my friends and family to purchase one of their own! The Puppia brand harness is a 10 out of 10 for sure.

For my dogs, I don’t want anything but the best. So when it comes to rawhide treats, I've always felt a little stuck, confused, and more nervous than not when it came to picking the right one. While I haven't had any problems with rawhides that I had given my dogs in the past, I knew there was still so much to be careful about. For those really nervous about providing their dogs with discount rawhides, it only takes a quick Google search for the fears about what they're truly eating to bubble up to the surface of your mind. This includes things like the risk for digestive irritation or possible choking hazards. And of course, there's the risk of contamination. Often times, we have no idea where exactly these rawhides are coming from. There's a certain amount of reassurance to be found in those manufactured in the United States, but even at that point, how much do you really know about the processes used to develop the treat?

Yes, I want my dogs to be entertained, to find an outlet for their natural chewing tendencies, and to reap some of the more hygienic benefits of the treat overall—such as increased teeth strength and, over time, fresher breath. I want all these things for my beloved dogs, but I still desperately want to make the right choice.

I had heard about bully sticks before, sometimes via word-of-mouth or by just doing some research by myself online. It seemed like a good choice for someone reluctant to stick to "mystery-hides," and after letting my dogs try a pair of natural, free range bully sticks, I can confidently say they won't be snacking on anything else. The sticks were a hit from the minute they were unwrapped. Both my dogs loved the taste and texture, and I was definitely pleased to see the item can be enjoyed safely indoors, without any worry of stains to the carpet or furniture.

Each stick is 100% beef—so there's absolutely no additives or surprise artificial recipe components. Experts always warn consumers when purchasing dog food to always check the first couple of ingredients listed on the packaging to make sure they are of the natural variety, as opposed to some sort of artificial creation that you would never choose to feed your dog if you actually knew what it was. With the bully stick, there's only one ingredient—beef, so you can be sure the treat is one of the most "green" items you could possibly serve your pooch.

They're designed to be completely digestible as well, unlike a large number of treats you'll find on your pet store shelf. This is great, because I like knowing that that they won't break down unevenly and cause complications once they reach the stomach. Plus, all this means that they will only represent a choking hazard if your dog were to simply bite off more than he or she can chew, something that I don’t have to worry about, as my dogs enjoyed every last possible bite.

All in all, these treats were a fantastic choice and I was absolutely thrilled to see my dogs enjoying them as much as they did. I'll certainly be buying more, which I know they'll be happy to hear!

For More than Just Walks: The Benefits of a Dog Harness

Available in a wide variety of sizes, fabrics, and colors, dog harnesses have evolved over the years to now serve as a reliable training tool that can both improve the quality of your walks as well as your dog's overall health. Think of all the times you've spent corralling your pooch as guest rings the doorbell or a squirrel prances across the patio and you're suddenly all the stands between your dog a set of brand new window blinds.

These instances require an owner to quickly regain control of the dog without worry of choking him or her in the process. Ultimately, where that force is placed on the dog's body has great effect on its day-to-day health.

When walking, a dog harness won't place direct pressure on a dog's throat when pulled, unlike a standard leash and collar. This proves critical for dogs with medical conditions, including those which affect their neck, spine, or windpipe, as the owner would ordinarily need to pay attention to the extra stress that could potentially cause injuries.

A harness also discourages pulling by enhancing overall control of your dog's actions. Additionally, if you find yourself walking more than one dog at any given time, especially medium-sized animals that can weigh upwards of 50 lbs., you're going to want the greatest amount of control possible. No dog walker ever wants to feel powerless when placed beside a busy intersection or suddenly among a large group of people. A harness is the first step to introducing confidence, control, and calmness to your walking routine.

Perhaps the most important benefit of a dog harness is the added security that comes along with it. It's not uncommon for pet owners to worry about the integrity of their dog's collar. It may be a very strong and reliable material, but the potential still exists for the fabric to fray and break or for the dog to simply wiggle its way out of the collar's grasp. A harness is designed to support the entire body, drastically reducing the damage pulling can do. It's important to note that while helpful, a harness is not a substitute for a collar, since the former is ill-suited to carry identification.

Dog Harnesses have proven too beneficial to ignore the impact they can have on your pet's life, so take the time to invest in one today. They may not say it, but your dog will certainly thank you.

The Evolution of the Dog Harnesses

Dog harnesses, once only used for sled dogs, have now become very popular for household pets. The dog harness distributes the weight more evenly than a collar and thus minimizes choking and slipping out. It also provides better control over the dog, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable walk for both dog and owner.

Man and dog have a long history together and the use of collars and harnesses has often been a part of that relationship. In ancient Egypt collars were used as a way to restrain and identify dogs. The evolution of the dog harness came about when dogs began to be used to pull sleds in cold, snowy climates such as Alaska, Canada, Siberia and Greenland. The dog harness allowed the dog teams to pull sleds farther, faster, and more efficiently. Archaeological evidence suggests that ancestors of the Alaskan Inuit may well have been the inventors of the dog harness.

With the dog harness as a ideal tool, sled dogs were able to travel where no horse, boat, or train could manage. During the late 1800s and early 1900s sled dogs were used during Alaska's frozen season to move everything from Gold Rush prospectors to Alaskan postal mail, earning this time period it's nickname, “Era of the Sled Dog.” Sled dogs were also used in the Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, aiding men in their exploration of these then unknown places.

Sled dog harnesses continued to evolve over the years into different types designed for dogs who were hauling freight and for those who were racing. Even today more harness designs are being developed as new dog sports are created. For example, the guard harness is preferred for the new sport of dog skijoring where a cross-country skier is pulled by his dog!

Since their creation, dog harnesses have continued to evolve in style, design, and durability. Modern harnesses, such as the high quality Puppia dog harness, are available in many colors and sizes. Innovations in materials used allow for increased comfort, breath-ability, and endurance. Dog owners will enjoy selecting the perfect dog harness for the beloved pet in their home.

Rawhide Dog chews have been the go to dog chew for years.  However, many pet parents have been unaware that these treats could actually be a hazard to their pet's health!  Rawhide presents many dangers to dogs.  Increased knowledge about the risks of these chew treats are leading many concerned pet owners to make the switch to the excellent alternative treat, the bully stick.

Though it is often swallowed while being chewed, rawhide is not fully digestible.  This can cause major health issues or even death.  Rawhide presents a choking hazard as small, broken pieces can get lodged in the dog's throat.  Larger pieces of rawhide are a concern as well if swallowed a larger piece, can expand inside his stomach and cause a fatal blockage. If this scenario should occur, the dog may need to have a surgical operation to remove the blockage.

Investigations have revealed that rawhides can contain toxic chemicals, including formaldehyde and arsenic, which are left over from the chemical process that is used to separate the animal's skin from the hide.  There are no regulations over the production of rawhide so consumers cannot know what is really in it.  Rawhide could also be contaminated with bacteria such as salmonella. In recent years, there have been 6 major FDA recalls of salmonella-contaminated rawhide.  Furthermore many rawhide products are byproducts of the cruel international fur trade, and may even contain dog hide!

An Alternative: The Bully Stick
Bully sticks are are 100% natural beef. This is important because other dog chew treats can contain dyes, chemicals, pesticides, and plastic. These unnatural items are harmful and cannot be digested. At Organic Pet Boutique we only carry bully sticks that have been grass fed and then cleaned with water and dried in the sun.

As well as being an excellent source of high quality protein, bully sticks also contain taurine, an amino acid which helps the flow of essential elements between the body's cells. This aids in overall health and well being. Bully sticks are high in protein content but low in fat and cholesterol which makes them an excellent choice even for overweight dogs.

Bully sticks improve and maintain your dog's oral hygiene and health by aiding in the prevention of cavities, plaque, and tartar build up. They also help prevent periodontal disease and gingivitis, diseases which can lead to serious health problems. Additionally, use of bully sticks can help to freshen up “doggie breath.”

Dogs have an instinctive need to chew and these long-lasting chew treats offer hours of stress-relieving enjoyment.

Unlike some other treats, bully sticks do not easily break apart into smaller pieces so the choking hazard is greatly minimized.

Bully sticks are available in odor free varieties, eliminating any concerns about unpleasant scents.

Bully sticks are sourced from free ranging, grass fed cattle, not those kept in feedlots; Grazing is the natural and ethical way to raise cattle.

Bully sticks are shelf stable for up to 2 years so you can keep stocked up without worrying about the treats expiring before your dog is ready for them.

Bully sticks come in many varieties of shapes including braided, knotted bone, and pretzel. They also come in small and large sizes so you can find the perfect fit for your dog.

Bully sticks are the #1 selling dog chew treat in the U.S. --  the top treat of choice for millions of dogs!

As you can see, bully sticks are the all natural solution to a dog's need to chew and will keep pets occupied and happy, often for hours on end. Your dog deserves the best; and the best treat you can give is the bully stick!
